Keyboard key layout

Mouse Layout

The light beam is pointed at a key and the key or function is output to a host. When the light beam is moved over the keys each key lights up as it sees the light beam, if the light beam is stopped over a key a delay starts, when the delay is finished, a beep sounds and the key is sent to the computer. If during the delay time the light beam is moved to another key then nothing is sent to the computer. The delay must time out to input a key. All controls for the keyboard can be adjusted by the operator with the light beam. Like the beep can be turned off, and the delay can be adjusted to fit each user either longer or shorter.

The light beam can be held it the operators mouth, or attached to a head ban, finger, toe, shoulder or anything the user can move.

Light Key™ keyboard operation

Keyboard Keys

Keys A-Z - When regular keyboard keys detect a light beam they input the same as a regular PC keyboard.

Shift Key - When the shift key detects a light beam the next key detected is shifted to the second function to the upper left on the key, if a letter key is selected then the letter is shifted to upper case and then the Shift key is reset to allow lower case or normal characters to be sent.

Caps Lock - When the Caps Lock key detects a light beam the all of the rest of the keys are shifted to upper case or if they have a key function in the upper right of the key that function is input. When the caps lock key is selected the LED at the Caps Lock location will light and will remain lit until the Caps Lock key is selected again.

Enter Keys - There are two Enter keys, both do the same function. They are there to only allow Enter when a user is selecting for either the left or right side of the keyboard.

Speaker Key - When selected allows the user to increase, decrease or turn off the beep from the speaker.

Copy - After selecting a section of text or an object with the Mouse function the Copy key can be selected to remember the selection.

Paste - After text or an object is selected with the Copy key it can be inserted back by selecting the Paste key.

Fast Key - is used to speed up detection time from the key Light coming on until the selected key is input. As a user gets more familiar with Light Key the user can adjust Light Key faster to increase his or her typing speed. In operation each time the Fast Key is selected the selection time decreases in steps, so to get a very fast selection time will take multiple selections.

Slow Key - is used to decrease the detection time of the key Light coming on until the selected key is input. This is very helpful in places where more than one user is using Light Key. If a previous user has used Light Key more and is faster at typing then the newer user can with the selection light beam slow down the detection for them to learn typing with Light Key easier. In operation each time the Slow Key is selected the selection time increases in steps, so to get a very slow selection time will take multiple selections.

Mouse Keys

LC Key - Is left click, when this key detects a light beam it will input a left click to the computer the same as a standard computer mouse.

DC Key - Is double left click, when this key detects a light beam it will input a double left click to the computer the same as a standard computer mouse. The timing interval is between the click are fixed by the keyboard and not by the user so a correctly timed double let click is input to the computer.

RC Key - Is right click, when this key detects a light beam it will input a right click to the computer the same as a standard computer mouse.

Mouse Arrow Keys - The mouse arrow keys show the direction the cursor will move when selected. When a arrow key detects the light beam the cursor is moved first starting slow for finer selection on the monitor then the movement speed increases to facilitating rapid traverse across a monitor.

SF Key - This is the start fast key and when the start fast key detects a light beam and the delay times out to select it the next key must be an arrow key, when the light beam is then moved over an arrow key and the delay times out that arrow key will start moving the cursor at a fast rate until the light beam is moved away from the arrow key and being not selected the start fast key will be reset to normal. Then if the user moves the light beam over an arrow key to select it that arrow key will start slow to allow a fine movement selection so you can select an object, text or line. A user can use this key to first move the cursor quickly across the monitor.

Drag Key - To move an object or icon on a monitor display one of the arrow keys positions the cursor over an object then when the Drag Key detects a light beam and a left click is sent and appropriate other signals by Drag Key to enable moving the object, then one of arrow keys is selected and detects a light beam and the object is moved in the direction of that arrow, then by moving the light beam away from the arrow key to deselect it the object stops in position and the Drag Key is reset. OFF/ON - If a user is leaving a computer the ON/OFF key is selected to turn off Light Key keyboard. If the light beam is battery powered then it can select the ON/OFF key to turn on Light Key, if not the keyboard must be plugged into the computer and Light Key will be turned on.

Wheelchair Control layout

When controlling a wheelchair in direct sunlight or inside typing on a computer Automatic Ambient Light Compensation (AALC) continues to monitor ambient to give you error free typing and control. When used to control a wheelchair the same controls can have a keyboard for typing into a computer or just for wheelchair controls.

TV Control Layout

New non-contact TV control. If you can move any part of your body, like your finger, head, toe, etc. you can control your own TV with a light beam from your wheelchair or bed. Control beams are emitted toward the TV from the right side and from rear for vertical mounting, and from the top for wheelchair mounting.

and Input Devices For the Physically Challenged that Require No Finger Pressure

"We can brighten your day at any age, and make you more productive"

Cursor Positioning made simple, just touch an arrow direction and the cursor goes in that direction. No more having to control your finger or wand movement to control the cursor. Separate left and right mouse buttons, separate one touch button for double click, no more having to control your finger to do double clicks. Works with finger or wand. Standard PS2 output. And it's sealed from the top so it can be washed off.

20 PKB-SA-04 ....... Size 5" x 5.5"x 1" thick

83 PKB-SA-W-064, w/Touch pad ....... Size 6.25" x 12"x 1" thick

This keyboard is compact and weighs just one pound, so it can be used on your lap, in your bed, or it can be taken with you to school or work. It just plugs into a PS2 port and you're off surfing....

We manufacture optical keyboards where the finger is detected by a matrix of infrared sensors, so no finger pressure is needed to type on the keyboard. So persons with Lou Gehrig's disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Connective Tissue Disorder, Arthritis, CTS, and others that do not have enough finger pressure or it is uncomfortable to apply pressure can benefit from these keyboards.

They are also compact in size so they can be used on your lap, in your bed or on a bedside stand. They can also be fitted with a touch pad to one side, or in the middle of the keyboard with optical left and right touch positions. When fitted with a touch pad you can have complete control of your computer from where you're sitting or lying.

There are no nooks and crannies around keys so they can be just washed off if something is spilled on them.

And because they're optical we can personalize them to fit the person using our keyboards. You can have only the keys you want, your name, and your colors, text (a function name), hot keys (one key can input a URL, ctrl-C, etc.).

The price of the custom key text overlay is included in the price, and because there are no moving parts they will never wear out.

We also make them in any language. You send us the keys you want and we'll send you a keyboard.

**These are just a sample of what we can do**

Arrow Keys - by touching these keys the cursor will move in the direction of the arrow touched. The movement is first slow and then increases to fast movement. For accurate placement you can tap these arrows to get very small amounts of movement. Left Click - Operates as other left button mice, you can single click or double click. Double Left Click - One touch will give you a double click to open icons and files. Right Click - Operates as other right button mice. Drag - by placing the cursor over an icon then touch an arrow key will drag the icon, then once the arrow key is released the icon is fixed in position. Start Fast - by touching this key prior to an arrow key will make the cursor rapidly move across the display, then when you get close to where you are going raise your finger and tap the arrows for accurate positioning.

With touch pad in the keyboard, that is toggled between the keyboard and touch pad with the touch position in the lower left.

One inch extra large keys for limited sighted persons.

Also with removeable Finger Guides so they can be easily cleaned, and stabilize the users fingers for correct input.

Large Key Keyboards, with removeable Finger Guides. The above large key layout is optimized for computer and internet access. The CAP key shifts all keys to their upper case, or to the character on the upper left of the key. This gives normal "shifted" function for the number keys, except for the 6 that has the /, the 9 that has the <, and the 0 that has the >. The sequence CAP then SP (space) gives the next key's upper right character and then reverts back to the unshifted state once that key is touched. The CAP indicator comes on when touched, then flashes if the SP is touched next. If the SP key is not touched next then the CAP indicator remains on until touches again. Other characters can be added at customers request.

Green being the most perceived color for the eyes.

Note: There is a $240 charge for custom key text overlays, you can have your colors and number of keys.
